TO STASH WORLD AAAND BEYOND!
The Beyond Stash World series explores the humans behind the stickers and stationery that we have the pleasure of stocking. Learn more about what inspires your fave makers and where you can discover more of their creations.
Tell us a little about who you are and where your love of design and stationary began?
My name is Michelle and I'm based in Queensland. I have 2 daughters, and I’ve been married for 32 years.
My love of stationery began back in primary school when I discovered hello kitty stationery. I love cats and thought she was the cutest thing ever! And still do.
My obsession with going to display homes on the weekend with my aunty fueled my desire to design anything and everything. I now design dollhouses, miniature furniture, shadow boxes and 3d printed desk accessories.
Please describe your creative space – whether it's your art studio or the backyard.
I have two crafting areas, one is my craft room, where I can relax and work on new designs and the second is at my dining table, where I assemble all my 3d printed goodies and build my miniature furniture.
In my craft room I am surrounded by my books, shoes, handbags, craft supplies, my cricut maker and lots of paper! Also all my 3d printed creations. Everything I love all in one room.
What inspired you to start your business/ the inspiration behind some of the pieces you’ve made?
I started my business with the encouragement of a friend, when she saw my miniature cart I had designed and made and asked if she I could make one for her, plus I really needed more storage for my washi, as my ikea raskog was full to the brim. And anything in miniature is just that much more cute.
Who’s your favourite singer or band at the moment?
Don’t really have a favorite band or singer, I listen to anything from classical to heavy metal, if I like it I listen to it.
Are you a stationery user or hoarder?
I would say I’m a stationery user, unless it comes to my hello kitty collection. I just can’t bring myself to use it, I have things dating back to when I was four years old. Everything else is used and very much loved.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not designing/ making?
I love going on road trips with Hubby, discovering new places and buying things for our house. I love looking at an item we got together and remembering where it came from and the great time we had. I especially love mid century modern decor. Always on the look out for that next amazing find!
Of course, we have to ask, what’s your favourite piece you’ve made?
I have two favorite pieces that I have made. One is a shadow box of a miniature planner room, which will be available later this year. My second is the Pen house, which is based on a combination of our family home and my dollhouse.
