Christmas Casual Role
We’re looking for another lovely human to join the Stash World team and help us through the busy end-of-year / Christmas period (with possibility of extension).
This role would be especially perfect for someone who has their own creative practice, freelance work, small business or personal project that takes up most of their time, but would love some occasional, side $$ working a few retail shifts with us.
Important: this is a RETAIL + ONLINE ORDER FULFILMENT role.
While Stash World is a creative business, this isn’t a design position. You won’t be employed to illustrate, design products or teach workshops.
Most shifts involve serving customers on the shop floor, operating POS, restocking and organising inventory, picking + packing online orders, receiving stock, tidying and all the other everyday jobs involved in running a busy little retail store.
Your creative background is a bonus. Your retail experience is what qualifies you for this role, so please include that in your application :)
A little about the role:
This is a casual retail position across our Fortitude Valley store (includes online order fulfilment). Expect approx 5 - 15 hours a fortnight (sometimes more during busier periods). Must be available weekends and most weekdays.
Because we’re a tiny team heading into our busiest time of year, we unfortunately don’t have the capacity for lots of foundational retail training - so we’re specifically looking for someone who already feels very confident on a shop floor.
You’ll need:
- At least 3 years of previous retail experience
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Confidence working independently and using your initiative
- A genuinely patient, kind and understanding approach to customer service
- Experience communicating with people with different needs and communication styles
- A really good eye for detail (especially when picking + packing online orders!)
- To be reliable, organised and comfortable when things get busy
- Availability across the busy Christmas period
You definitely don’t need to be a stationery expert, but a love for stationery definitely helps! We can teach you about stickers, pens and all the weird little things we sell.
What we do need is someone who already knows retail: how to read a customer, communicate clearly, notice when something needs doing, keep calm when it’s busy, and make people feel comfortable and welcome in our space.
We think this could be a particularly nice fit for an freelancer or small business owner looking for some occasional work alongside their own thing - but we’re open to anyone who fits the role!
If this sounds like you - we’d love to hear from you.
To apply:
Please email hello@stashworld.com.au with a little bit about yourself, your previous retail experience (ideally a resume), your current availability and what you’re up to outside of Stash!
