Tell us a little about who you are and where your love of art began?

My name is Jordan Debney and I’m from New Zealand! I’ve been living and working here in Melbourne since late 2017 and I create artworks and illustrations for various companies around the world. I’ve worked with companies like Fortnite, Snapchat, Jaegermeister, Houseparty and the list goes on. I spend most of my week as the Head Illustrator for A Lost Cause Official clothing brand and on weekends creating tee graphics for other cool brands like Billy Bones Club.

Please describe your creative space – whether it's your art studio or the backyard.

I currently share my creative space with my partner Elrosabel, my side is very minimal baring only the essentials and her side is a chaotic storm of pastels and peeps, it’s a perfectly matched tug-of-war where productivity is the only winner.

What inspired you to start your business?

It was kind of an accident. When I was a teenager I was a chef in a small town in New Zealand creating artworks for local small-time bands gig posters as a hobby and eventually, people started to pay money for them, then I found myself selling my art as prints and other merchandise. Overtime It has kind of just grown into what it is today, and hopefully, it will always remain a hobby, a bi-product from the usual work I do for other companies.

Tell us about the inspiration behind some of the pieces you’ve made.

Inspiration usually strikes me when I least expect it, never when I need it. It’s often from my love of plants, cinematography, or music but hardly ever from art. Usually when I’m far away from the mindset of work which is unfortunate for me aha *laugh cry*

Who’s your favourite singer or band at the moment?

Always will be Nine Inch Nails, hell yeah 🔥

Are you a sticker user or do you hoard them?

I’m a 100% full on sticker hoarder. I have one of those sticker books from primary school where the pages are blank sheets where you can stick stickers on and restick elsewhere without damaging the stickers, and they’re all organised by colour. It’s so chaotic it’s great.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making your art?

I’ve always been interested in photography as a hobby and I’ve recently taken up shooting in film, so you can usually find me lurking around a sunset with a camera. It’s important to me that I keep it as a hobby so it doesn’t become work, I have a tendency of turning hobbies into work and then just becomes a chore.

Of course, we have to ask, what’s your favourite sticker you’ve made?

This has got to be most definitely Hypno-Bat, you can’t go wrong with a bit of holographic, a  reflection of our dimension translated into colour!
